Fashionable holidays: Gold Coast, Queensland

I’ve recently started a new job (hello new colleagues sussing me out via the blog) but before I dove into a new position I decided a little R&R was in order. My holiday budget was limited (Sorry Rihanna I can’t do Bahamas this year). But did you know how many seriously fashionable holiday destination there are in our backyard? A serious short flight from most Metropolitan cities is the beautiful Gold Coast. This city of sun, surf and sand hasn’t been on anyones holiday radar of late for three reasons which need to be forgotten. 1. Katy Perry didn’t honey moon there. 2. The Queensland floods 3. The “backpacker” stereotype image the Gold Coast had. Forget what you heard, this strip of cafes, bars, beaches and seriously good looking people has emerged of late into a fashionable holiday destination.

Where to eat on the Gold Coast: 1two3 Broadbeach, Sage Restaurant Broadbeach

There are two super cute restaurants situation on the sunny side of the highway in Broadbeach. The two restaurants have the same owner but a very different cuisine, but they same quality. Functions manager Justine Clarke tells us you have to try the Passionate Getaway cocktail at 1two3 “Malibu, vanilla vodka & passionfruit…full of yummy, fruity goodness.” Justine tells us that Sage is the place to catch up with friends in the sun.
“Sage specializes in steaks with a Modern Australian menu that has a great mix of lots of different dishes. The restaurant is light and open and enjoys full sun all day .”
The two venues have great food, a great atmosphere and the mixologists know how to make an amazing afternoon cocktail (most importantly!)

  1. I live on the Gold Coast and absolutely agree! People have a misconception that the Gold Coast is devoid of style, which is why I started my blog http://styleonthecoast.blogspot.com/

There are some gorgeous stores, cafes and inspiring people on the coast. You just need to know where to look!
