Megan Fox, Jessica Hart and Matthew McConaughey know how to keep in shape.
Gyms.
They’re expensive. They smell weird. And they all seem to have that creepy guy that only appears when you’re doing squats.
What if I told you that you don’t need a gym? That you are you’re own exclusive fitness club designed to burn calories and tone muscle, without having to fork out $50 a fortnight for the “pleasure” of communal change rooms.
Here are a few of my super-dooper-tips-for-gym-free-workouts. That was the shortest name I could come up with.
Start with Resistance Exercises or Moderate Weights

Use resistance bands to really challenge your muscles.
Resistance exercises tone and sculpt your muscles, giving your body that lovely defined look. You should aim for around 3 to 4 sessions of weights/resistance a week. Contrary to popular belief lifting weights doesn’t bulk you up. You’re just not designed to bulk, biochemically. You don’t have to shell out money for weights either. Lift tins or bricks. Aim for 3 sets of 12, with moderate weight. If you’re going to splash out on any type of equipment buy resistance bands and a fitness ball. The range of exercises you can do on these is just about endless.
Blitz Calories with Cardio
Walking is generally a very effective cardiovascular workout but if you wan’t to take the intensity up a notch, try interval training.
Do sprints. Set yourself up with around a 100 metre track. Sprint to the end. Walk back. Repeat this for 5 minutes. You. Will. Sweat.
Try skipping- there’s a reason boxer’s all skip. It’s a super intense cardio workout and helps to keep you light on your toes. Try doing 2 minute intervals for 10 minutes. 2 minutes of skipping with a 30 second rest.
Make use of your Smart-Phone
Get on that new fangled mobile of yours and download some health and fitness apps. You can generate programs that require minimal equipment, as well as count calories and track eating and exercise.. A lot of these apps are free too.
Even just walking 5 to 6 times a week for at least 45 minutes is a great tool to keep yourself fit and healthy. Throw in a few of the tips and tricks above and you’ll be a Miss Universe contender in no time! At the very least fit and healthy.

Liked the idea of using smart phone. Something different I came across. Thanks for sharing
Hello,
I ditched the gym about a year ago – with two kids in toe, I downloaded the app on my phone – a pedometer!!! But seriously — I put the kids in the pram and go for runs in the morning…and I am happy I don’t have to see the creepy guys at the gym that wear those singlets exposing their nipples — !!!!
