Fashion News: Sales Guide

Forget the boxing dale sales January is the right time to grab a bargain. Come the new year stores start to reduce prices heavily to get rid of any left over sale stock. It’s almost time for winter stock and the stores need that space for fur coats and boots!

There are some really great sales happening over this coming week. I highly recommend if your in Sydney to check out the Mink Pink sample sale. I wil be there at 7:30am on Friday morning! Come find me frantically searching for bargains!

For all those not based in Sydney there is two great online sales . Lover the label is having a flash sale tomorrow (Wednesday 19) between 3-6pm, everything on the online store will be 50% off! Go online now and suss out your purchases and then log back on tomorrow to score 50% off!  Visit: www.loverthelabel.com.au

One of my favorite online swimwear/lingerie stores Trixan Body have just launched an outlet of sorts on their website. The outlet has over 1,000 swimwear and lingerie pieces reduced from 25-75% off the retail price.  Visit: www.trixanbody.com.au and hit the outlet button in the top right hand corner.

Shopbop is always known for having a fanatastic sales department. What I love is that being an international store all of their winter pieces are heavily reduced right now, and us southern hemisphere girls are just starting to think about stocking up on mitts and scarves. Head to the sales tab at the top! The site features some great Australian designers too. Check out Shakuhachi, Ellery and Sass & Bide on the site. Or for your international designer fix I love Opening Ceremony and Elizabeth & James.

Happy shopping ladies!

Fashion News: Lorna Jane LJ Black Collection

Fashion News: Lorna Jane LJ Black Collection

I am sorry blog friends, I have been on a serious hiatus. I have started an internship in publishing alongside my full time job so it’s been a struggle to get food and sleep in let alone blogging.

Most of the fashion world slows down as we hit the summer months, everyone is too busy fanning themselves on the beach in the southern hemisphere heat. One great brand that stayed awake during the heat is active wear label Lorna Jane. They have launched a hot new premium line of active wear called LJ Black. Two reasons why I am letting you know about LJ Black.

  1. Who said you can’t be fashionable at the gym, LJ Black is about functionality as well as fashion, love it!
  2. During the summer break I got diagnosed with Diabetes. So keeping active and hitting the gym has become a huge part of managing my condition, I love the release of LJ Black coincided with this change in my life.

“LJ Black reflects the style of the modern and fashionable woman. The new line brings a sense of style and elegance to the Lorna Jane brand. I believe Australian women are not willing to compromise on style and their active wardrobe should be no exception” says Founder and Head Designer, Lorna Jane Clarkson.

Lorna Jane always uses the highest quality fabrics meaning your workout gear will last for years. I have some great Lorna Jane pieces in my wardrobe which have stood the test of time.

The first LJ Black collection features on trend colours such as bubble gum pink, yellow and turquoise, so surf, so scuba, so hot.

LJ Black is in Lorna Jane stores nationally now or online at www.lornajane.com.au

Fashion News: Estee Lauder Australia joins Facebook!

Fashion News: Estee Lauder Australia joins Facebook!

This news is a few weeks old now, but it was interesting I still had to share. Social Networking has firmly planted itself in lifestyle and work practices in Australia so it’s no wonder the beauty industry, which is a meeting of these two worlds have taken notice. More beauty and lifestyle brands are taking up twittering and Facebooking their followers and fans. One of my absolute favorite luxury beauty brands Estee Lauder Australia have made caught on and joined Facebook.

What makes the Estee Lauder Facebook stand out from the other beauty social networking sites is the information on the Facebook is actually useful. The Facebook page is dedicated to helping you the consumer get the most out of your Estee Lauder products.

They’ve already reached over 5000 fans in under a month. “Like” Estee Lauder on Facebook to keep up to date with product releases, new campaigns and of course some fabulous competitions.

Fashion News: Fashion Targets Breast Cancer

Fashion News: Fashion Targets Breast Cancer

Cancer survivor and Australian pop royalty Kylie Minogue has been named the face of the 2010 Fashion Targets Breast Cancer campaign. She will be representing the charity along with Emma Balfour (pictured) and Rachel Taylor.  The campaign is a global charity movement to raise funds for breast cancer research that is specific to young women (you and me!). By partnering with famous fashion names the charity has been creating global awareness since 1994.

Breast cancer is an issue that is prominent in our society but what is often overlooked is the effects of the cancer when young women are affected. Approximately 1,700 women under 45 are affected and the issues that come along with it are very different, such as early menopause, relationship and career issues.

This year Kylie heads up to campaign to increase even more awareness. The black and white campaign launched this month is encouraging young women to wear their support. Retailers such as Metalicus, Seafolly and GHD have created black and white products for purchase from now until the end of 2010 where 25% of each product sold to FTBC, with an overall fundraising target of $200,000.

Hope Kylie and the team inspire you to get onboard!

Cheyenne Tozzi for Mambo Goddess

I am moving to Sydney in exactly 56 days, to be honest I didn’t count the days out the girl who is moving into my apartment did, she is excited for departure on the basis of she gets to move into my insanely cool townhouse. As I have been waiting to move to Sydney I’ve been working a full time job that’s shift work and boy is it exhausting. Working till midnight then switching to a morning shift the next day is taking its toll on my body. Anyway when I do get somewhat of a day off (today until 5pm) I sort through my emails, catch up with a coffee on the latest fashion news and find out what I missed in the headlines for the week. Here are the fashion headlines that caught my eye and I thought worth sharing!

Evo Hair Launches New Online Store: Why is  the launch of a website so cool you ask? Well because on 2nd August when the evo website launches www.evohairproducts.com.au you’ll be able to watch video tutorials on how to style your hair into the latest look at home. I am personally someone who hates sorting through thousands of dodgy YouTube clips for the right tutorial so I love that evo are bringing the cheat sheets to us! Hurrah!

Become a Melissa Harris Fan: Befriend the jewelry label Melissa Harris on Facebook and go in for the chance to win a yellow gold pendant worth $395. Just like the page and leave a comment letting them know you’ve signed up!

Fashion News: Keeping Television Fashionable

Fashion News: Keeping Television Fashionable

I’ve been on holidays for a total of 3 weeks. It’s the first time in a long time I’ve actually had time to watch TV. I have defiantly been catching up on all I missed pretty quickly. I’ve mainly been watching mindless garbage and I started to feel guilty how little I was expanding my mind.

Luckily in September (only just over a month away) LifestyleYOU on pay TV is coming to my rescue! (I’m sure it wasn’t just purely for me but anyway). September has been dubbed FASHION month. I’ve been doing a bit of personal styling and I hope to eventually develop it in a profitable side business for weekends. I love the look of these new shows, as they’ll help me help my clients, and friends and family along the way.

There are five exciting shows to keep an eye out for;

Kate! The Making of an Icon, all you need to know about Miss Moss became the phenomena that she is today.

Gok’s Fashion Fix where one lucky (or at least soon to be lucky) UK local gets a heads to toe makeover from the master of fashion himself, Gok Wan. Best part is he transforms there wardrobes on a budget!

Frock Me with Alexa Chung this is defiantly going to be my favorite show. Fashion icon of my generation Alexa interviews a bunch of other fashion icons. Celebrities Alexa will be chatting to include Taylor Momsen, Olivia Palermo and Lily Allen.

High Society is what I think will be basically Gossip Girl coming to life. This will be an eight part series following the life of New York socialite Tinsley Mortimer. It will unveil everything from the parties to the fashion to the gossip to the city night-lights, this show is going to make me want to pack my bags and move to Manhattan!

How to Look Good Canada teach Canadian women to love themselves inside in order to love themselves on the outer. The show hosted Zain Meghji will help women overcome their self doubt and see themselves in a new light. Heart wrenching!

So grab a big fluffy pillow, and some healthy snack, get comfy on the couch and get ready to expand your fashion knowledge with Lifestyle YOU fashion month!

Fashion News: The Round Up

Fashion News: The Round Up

As a blogger I get sent a lot of useful and a lot of useless information – and  a bit that sit neatly into between these two categories. Due to finishing my degree I’ve been a bit slack on the blogging front, which also means I’ve been a bit slack on the email side of things too. So over the weekend I sorted through my knee deep pile of emails and waded through the good and the bad, whilst wearing high heels. There has been quiet a few exciting happenings in the fashion world so here are a few of the breaking headlines that might affect the way you live your life tomorrow.

Mimco to launch sunglasses line: I would call myself a devotee of Mimco but I don’t actually own a Mimco handbag, I’ve invested in other bits and bobs from the lines though, so I was excited to hear that they are adding another ‘bit’ for my ‘bob’ collection…sunglasses. Creative director Cathryn Wills said that starting a sunglasses range was a natural progression. “We are incredibly excited to launch our first sunglasses collection. After Mimco’s expansion into footwear 18 months ago, we decided to ask our customers what they wanted next from Mimco and sunglasses were at the top of the list,” says Wills. Keep an eye out this summer!

Samantha Harris new face of Seafolly: The iconic swimwear brand Seafolly is known for its famous faces fronting their lines for Spring and Summer and this year they’ve scored the talk of town, Samantha Harris. Jessica Hart will also be an ambassador again. Samantha a true Aussie girl seems to be pretty chuffed to be representing the brand. “I grew up knowing that Seafolly was truly an Australian brand to be proud of. I am so happy to be given the opportunity to shoot with such a beautiful brand,” Ms Harris said in a statement.

Jurlique to open a new store in the MidCity, Sydney: My hands during winter will never be the same again after discovering Jurqlique hand cream. I did a review on a few different types of hand creams recently and my jasmine Jurlique now lives in my handbag, on my desk and in my heart. So Sydney girls should get excited as their new stor is set to open in Sydney’s CBD on 7th July 2010. To celebrate the opening, Jurlique is offering customers 15% off products purchased at the new MidCity store (offer excludes gift packs) between 7 July – 10 July 2010. See in-store for more details, conditions apply.

Fashion News: Country Road Goes Online

Hot off the press from Country Road (well yesterday, but close enough)

“Country Road announced yesterday its plans to launch online shopping in August 2010 for each of  its Country Road and Trenery brands. The e-store for each brand will replicate the bricks and mortar offer of the respective retail chains,  with the exception of those few items in the Country Road home range that are too fragile or unwieldy to ship.

The launch will happen simultaneously in Australia and New Zealand while further international expansion will be considered in the future based on consumer demand. Country Road has 64 stores in Australia and New Zealand and 81 concessions in David Jones and Myer while Trenery, which was launched in September 2009, currently has six stores in Australia stores with plans for further expansion in 2010/11.

The launch of online shopping means both brands will now be instantly accessible to people who live in regional areas and who may not have a store conveniently located nearby. “
